Greetings and welcome to my blog.
My name is Monet and I am a Fashion Designer. The name Madae Xenia comes from an
old nickname I was once called in high school, Madae, and Xenia being my mother’s
nickname amongst family. My
interest in the fashion industry struck me as young girl. I was first
introduced to the elegant styles of Gianni Versace. His colorful, fluid gowns
excited me and as a four year old I made it my goal to pursue the lifestyle and
careers of the fashion industry. I go by many titles; seamstress, designer,
student and many more. My first sewing machine was given to me by my mother and
I made my first garment in the sixth grade. It was a kimono inspired blouse
pattern that my mother had purchased from Wal-Mart. It turned out to be wearable,
but I learned quickly from those mistakes on that shirt. Since then I have made
fully-lined vests, slacks for women, prom dresses for girls and
participated in two fashion shows. Currently, I am studying the technique of
pattern-making and bringing my fashion sketches to life with programs such as Photoshop
and Adobe Illustrator. I have no interest being in the spotlight, I rather be
the core of my preferred fashion house or company that continues their legacy. I
am definitely a work in progress but I have something special to put forth in
the harsh world of fashion. College at the Art Institutes has prepared me for
my career in many ways; as a designer and as a manager. I have learned to be
well-rounded and knowing a little bit of everything is very helpful.
