Week 8 BOC: Progress on My Final Project

Progress so far on my final project is I now have a place to develop my ideal bar and I have improved on the concept of my bar theme. It was at first a place for men that could enjoy good food, but I decided on opening a place for younger adults like myself who will soon be turning 21. I am developing this bar based on what my friends and I believe would be a good hangout spot for college students wanting to get in “the scene.” It will be a bar that will provide entertainment like karaoke, roller blading, and dancing. It may sound a bit childish but I hear all the time how people miss skating rinks and great music, and I agree with their complaints. The building that I have chosen for this bar is located on Charleston Blvd which is considered a busy street; therefore I believe it will attract reasonable traffic. I have chosen a warehouse which was originally a retail operation and that will provide me with plenty of space to create an inviting, partying experience. There will be food, and alcoholic beverages.  The bar will only be open Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Wednesday s I felt was a good day to be open because it’s the middle of the week and sometimes young adults can’t wait till the weekend. It will be a slow day but I think it will help promote upcoming events for the weekend. I do plan on having live, and local DJ’s that will mix popular dance music with requests from the guests.
